Business Development Manager

Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager will contact new businesses by contacting new and existing customers.  This role will lead front-end engagement, set up and conduct presentations, and work with executive management to secure business.  The role will also be instrumental for up to 90 days post-sale to ensure proper management and handoff of the customer.

  • Must have a current book of business to bring to the position

  • Experience and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, small company environment

Responsibilities:

  • Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts

  • Work collaboratively across internal teams, including support, service, and management resources, to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations

  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in posted accounts

  • Proactively lead a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for one and three years

  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis

  • Lead solution-based development efforts that best address customer needs while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel

Performance Measures:

  • Achieve assigned sales quota within designated accounts

  • Meet assigned expectations for profitability

  • Achieve strategic customer objectives defined by company management

  • Complete strategic customer account plans that meet company standards

  • Maintain high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards

  • Complete required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame

Organizational Alignment:

  • Will report to the Vice President of Sales

  • Enlist the support of sales specialists, implementation resources, service resources, and other sales and management resources as needed

  • Closely coordinate company executive involvement with customer management

  • Work closely with Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution

  • Future potential to have direct report staff assigned to support responsibilities in specific customers

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years  experience in the 3PL Services market

  • Candidate must have a portable book of business and have the will to hunt

  • Ability to cold-call and make face to face appointments

  • PC proficiency, CRM, and MS Office proficiency

  • Associates Degree or higher is required

  • Requires minimally 25% travel

  • Background check required
