Cut Costs, Not Quality: How Efficiency Drives Value at Prep Partners

Keeping fulfillment costs under control starts with a clear operating scope. Prep Partners Group reviews the receiving, storage, handling and shipping work a brand needs so the quote can be compared with its current process. Savings depend on the order profile and agreed terms; they are not guaranteed.

Ask the quote to itemize receiving, storage, pick-and-pack, kitting and any additional work. Confirm account fees, minimum charges, setup work and exclusions alongside the activity-based charges.

Cost structure and contract terms

Compare normal and peak volumes using the same shipment mix. Any volume pricing, carrier discounts, contract incentives or limits on annual increases must be stated in the written quote or agreement. Carrier surcharges, service changes and exclusions may affect the final cost.

Fulfillment and storage options

Ask whether storage is billed by pallet, cubic foot, bin or another agreed unit, and how occupancy is measured. Confirm committed space, seasonal inventory and any minimum. Products with temperature requirements need a separate assessment of the required range and available handling conditions before a storage quote is accepted.

Separate fees by the work they cover

Separate integration, account support, packaging materials and assembly work from the base handling rate. Ask which charges are recurring, per order, per project or subject to a minimum, and how a change to the product or pack-out affects pricing.

Account support and reporting

Document the support scope, reporting, service hours and exception contacts. If a fixed support charge is proposed, confirm what it includes and what work is billed separately; do not assume that all support is covered by one fee.

Use the fulfillment cost calculator to test the quote against the same order, storage and packaging assumptions. Bring any unclear fee or service condition into the quote review before making a commitment.
